Your First Appointment

Nervous? No need!

We appreciate that many people are anxious about going to the dentist. We understand and we are here to help. We try to create a relaxed, friendly atmosphere to help overcome any apprehension. Listening, taking on board your concerns and talking through them is a vital part of this process.

On arrival at Polwarth Dental Clinic, you will be greeted by our friendly reception team. You will be asked to complete a medical history questionnaire and a dental health check. If you wish, you can download the forms here to save time on the day. Please make sure you complete these as accurately as possible, as many medications and medical conditions have a direct effect on the health of your mouth.

When it’s time to see the dentist, you will be invited into the surgery by a member of our team. The dentist will discuss with you any concerns you may have regarding your dental health as well as finding out what your aspirations are for treatment.

We will then carry out a thorough dental examination. This includes checking the condition of any existing fillings, crowns, bridges and implants. We will also carry out a gum health check and oral cancer health screening and we may take intra-oral photographs, which will enable you to visualise and understand your dental health.

At the end of the examination we will discuss our findings and advise you of any further treatment you may require. You will be provided with a full itemised treatment plan and financial estimate of all treatment you require.

Payment

Once you have decided how you would like to proceed with treatment, the dentist will discuss our range of different payment options including our interest free payment plans.

Please note, in order to secure your first appointment, we will require a deposit. The deposit is non refundable and will be deducted from the cost of your appointment with us.

During your first appointment, you will be given the option to join our Polwarth Dental Membership Plan , which will give you an immediate 10% discount on treatments as well as allowing you to spread the cost of routine examinations.
